Patricia Narayan Startup Story: Patricia Narayan was born in Nagercoil Tamil Nadu. She belonged to a Christian family and at the age of 17 she married a Hindu Brahmin boy Narayan. But a few months after the marriage she discovered that her husband was a drug addict. Within a year she decided to divorce her husband and move out of her family with two children.
Steps towards success
Patricia always loved experimenting in the kitchen and decided to turn her passion for cooking into a career. She started making jams and pickles at home by borrowing money from her mother. Soon her mothers colleagues sold out all the products in a day which gave her more confidence. After this she increased her hard work and grew this business.
Growth and struggle in business
Patricia decided to sell tea coffee fresh juices and snacks on a cart at Marine Beach in Chennai to increase her sales. After selling one cup of coffee on the first day she never gave up and the next day her sales reached Rs 700. Later she added sandwiches French fries and ice cream to the menu.
Tragedy and Reconstruction
In 1998 Patricia joined Sangeeta Restaurants Group as a partner. In 2004 another tragedy struck when her daughter and son-in-law died in a car accident. It took her two years to come to terms with the loss. In memory of her daughter she and her son opened their first restaurant Sandhifa in 2006.
Learning and Inspiration
Today the Sandhifa Restaurants network operates with 14 locations and over 200 employees. Patricias life is full of inspiration that teaches us that to achieve any goal one must have faith in oneself and courage. Her example shows that success can be achieved even without a high degree of education.
