'Mismatched 3' Review: A new story of love, friendship and dreams!
‘Mismatched 3’ Review: The third season of Netflix’s popular web series ‘Mismatched’ is here. Starring Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf in the lead roles, the series narrates the story of young love, friendship and technical ambitions. Let’s take a look at the detailed review of this season.

Short story overview

The third season takes the previous story forward and shows that Dimple Ahuja (Prajakta Koli) is depressed in Ambala after not getting admission in NNIT (Nandini Nahata Institute of Technology), while Rishi Singh Shekhawat (Rohit Saraf) has become the star of NNIT and is working on a metaverse project called ‘Betterverse’. Sid Sir (Ranvijay Singh) starts a new institute, ending Dimple and Rishi’s long-distance relationship. However, their relationship continues to go through ups and downs. Also, the relationship between Anmol (Taruq Raina) and Vinny (Ahsaas Channa), new twists in Celina’s (Muskan Jaffrey) life, and the entry of Ritika aka Rith (Lauren Robinson) add new colors to the story.

Direction and Writing

A team of five writers (Gazal Dhaliwal, Arsh Vora, Sunayana Kumari, Nandini Gupta, Akshay Jhunjhunwala) under the direction of Akarsh Khurana have crafted the story of this season. However, despite such a large writing team, the story lacks depth. The development of the characters seems superficial, and some events like Valentine’s Day and Pride Week seem to be forcibly added. The main focus of the story is on the balance between the virtual and real world, but this theme does not emerge completely.

Performing

Rohit Saraf has performed with his charm and sincerity as Rishi, which keeps the audience engaged. Prajakta Koli has portrayed the character of Dimple in a natural way. Lauren Robinson has given an impressive performance as Rith, while Taruk Raina has brought life to the character of Anmol. The characters of Ranvijay Singh, Vidya Malvade, and Dipannita Sharma have got less screen time in this season, due to which they have been unable to leave their mark.

Features

Portrayal of real issues: The story touches upon sensitive issues like the pain of rejection from college/university, challenges of long-distance relationships, and gender dysphoria. However, instead of going deep into these topics, they have been presented superficially.
Music: The songs used in the romantic scenes are melodious and enhance the mood of the story.

Weaknesses

Lack of depth in the story: The lack of character development and lack of novelty in the story is evident. The conflict between the virtual and real world has not been fully developed.
New characters don’t feel natural: The entry of new characters like Rith doesn’t feel natural and their story is not given enough time.
The third season of ‘Mismatched’ is worth a watch for fans of the Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli pair. However, this season is not as effective as expected due to the lack of depth and novelty in the story. If you are a fan of the main cast, then you may like this season, but if you are looking for a strong story, then this season may disappoint you.
