Gukesh D: In 2024, Gukesh D set a record of nomination in the World Chess Championship at the age of 18. He won the title by defeating Gat champion Ding Liren 7.5-6.5 in a shock rocket of 14 rounds. With this victory, he became the youngest winner of the World Chess and emerged as a shining star of Indian chess.
Gukesh’s chess journey and family support
Gukesh was born on 29 May 2006 in Chennai. His father is Dr. Adhyayan E-Antilater and mother Dr. Padma Microbiocytokin. Gukesh’s passion for chess scolded his school coach Bhaskar and taught him. For Gukesh’s success, his father also left his job and accompanied him in every tournament. His mother also always encourages him.
Gukesh achieved the title of Grandmaster in the World Under-12 Championship in 2018. In 2021 he won the Julius Baer Challengers Chess Tour. In 2022 he made India proud by defeating USA in the 44th Chess Olympiad. In 2023 he surpassed Viswanathan Anand and became India’s top singles player by defeating world number one Magnus Carlsen.
Made Keds Tournament history in 2024
In 2024 Gukesh participated in the Knicks Tournament and won the title defeating his compatriots Praggnanandhaa and Vidit Gujrathi. He scored 9/14 and faced Ding Liren for the World Chess Championship. This win made him the youngest player to qualify for the World Championship.

Gukesh D raised his FIDE rating from 1291 to 2750 with his hard work and constant practice. The sacrifice and support of his parents were an important part of his success.
