Startup Story of Meesho: The story of Meesho begins in 2015 when two students of IIT Delhi Vidit Atre and Sanjeev Barnwal started a company called Fashionier which delivered fashion products from the local market but the idea did not work and they had to shut it down.
Then Meesho started
After this they chose a new path and started Meesho which means My Shop. Its purpose was that small shopkeepers and women of the house could start their business without investing any money and sell their goods through social media.
Social media became power
Meesho gave small traders an opportunity to sell their products on social media platforms like WhatsApp Facebook and Instagram. Meesho also gave them facilities like logistics payment and customer service which made their work easier.
Funding gave flight
In 2016 Meesho received a funding of Rs 2 crore from Y Combinator which gave the company a chance to move forward after which many big investors invested money in it and by 2021 its value reached around thirty-five thousand crores rupees.
A boon for women
Meesho became a new hope especially for those women who wanted to do something from home. Through this platform lakhs of women and small businessmen have become self-reliant by selling goods online and are making their mark.
